When Should You Run ADS For Your Online Business?

This is the most common question that we get from many entrepreneurs we work with because they’re all very excited to run advertising to try and get more clients and make more money.

But should you run paid advertising in the first place, and at what stage should you do it? So in this article, we’re going to answer these questions to hopefully help you in your business so you can scale at the right time and be successful.

Let’s dive right in…

Advertising Can Not FIX Your Business!

The first thing you have to know about advertising is that advertising can never take an unsuccessful business and turn it into a successful business. Many people believe that by just using an advertising campaign, they can scale their unsuccessful business and become successful overnight. That is not true.

Advertising is like nitrous that you plug into a sports car. It can only take an already successful business, and when you add that nitrous, it will allow that business to go much faster, just like it allows that car to go much faster at hyper speed.

Advertising actually magnifies what’s already happening in your business. So let’s say that you’re someone who just started an online business, and you realize that you’re not really getting a lot of clients. However, you’re putting your 100% effort into posting on social media, sharing valuable content every day, going on lives.

You think to yourself, maybe this organic thing isn’t working, perhaps I should go and run Facebook ads, and that’s the only way to make money. Before you take this step, read below!

Ads are not a Magic Potion.`

The truth is that Facebook ads help you make more money, but it’s not going to help you fix a broken business. Suppose you’re just starting off in your business and it’s not yet successful, then running paid ads is a big mistake. You will end up losing a lot of money and spend a lot of money in vain because Facebook ads, YouTube ads, or Google ads are not magic potions.

Once you feel the sting of stagnancy, you’ll realize that ads are not getting you the results that you’re looking for!

Remember, ads are just tools to help you scale and grow your business which is already working well and is successful.

Two Steps To Run Successful Ads

Here are two steps you can implement if you’re, struggling to get clients or want to make money and generate sales through ads.

Step #1: Figure Out How To Resonate With Your Potential Customers

The first thing we recommend before you run paid ads that figure out what it is that you’re doing that is not exactly resonating with your potential customers.

Suppose you take what you’re already doing right now and put money behind it by running advertising. In that case, you’re just magnifying the problem that already exists in your business which is you’re not getting clients, and people are not resonating with your message, your products, services, or your branding.

Things to remember if you have an online store

You can start by asking these questions:

  1. Is my website really optimized for conversions?
  2. Do I have everything that I need to have there?
  3. Does my website look professional?
  4. Do I look like a trustworthy merchant? If not, how I can fix that?

Or Suppose you’re a coach or a consultant

You can ask these questions to yourself:

  1. Is my branding according to the service I provide?
  2. How do I position myself?
  3. What kind of solution am I offering to my clients?
  4. How do I market that solution and talk about that solution?

Maybe you have the wrong pain points, and you actually don’t know your ideal clients, or perhaps you don’t know what your Product-Market fit is.

Product-Market fit

It’s essential to figure out your product-market fit and know how your product fits your markets.

What is Product-Market fit?

“Product-market fit,” writes startup coach and investor Marc Andreessen, “means being in a good market with a product that can satisfy that market.” When an entrepreneur identifies a need in the market and builds a solution that customers want to buy, that’s product-market fit.

Suppose you haven’t achieved the product-market fit in your business, your product doesn’t resonate with your markets, and you’re not generating sales already. In that case, advertising won’t solve your problem, and it’s just going to make it bigger because now you are not making sales, you’re spending money that you don’t have to continue losing money, which is a terrible idea.

Here’s our first recommendation, figure out what is exactly wrong in the business that’s preventing you from landing clients and making money.

Step #1: Now Use Ads To Scale Your Business

Once your business is gaining traction, you’re at a stage where you are attracting clients and generating a few sales every month, but

it’s not enough to help you scale the business, hire a team, and get to the next level. Well, that’s the point where you need to start advertising as you already have a semi-successful business because clients are paying for your services or products.

Now your ads will perform well as your ideal clients are interested in what you have to offer. You need to get more eyeballs on your product or service, and that’s where advertising is really going to help.

You can start with running Facebook, Youtube, or Google ads, and this will help you scale your business and take it to the next level.

So remember that advertising cannot take a broken business turn it into a successful business.

If you already have a problem in your business, start with solving that problem first. If you’ve never landed a client, Facebook ads will not help you land a client. First, you have to figure out what I need to do to land a client and why what I’m doing right now is not resonating.

However, if you’re already landing a few clients. In that case, you can take the money you’re making from those clients and invest them in ads.

One word of warning…

Don’t ever expect that your first few weeks or your first few months of advertising will be very successful. Like any successful business, you need to put in lots of work, effort, and patience for your ads to be successful.

You need to take your time to run those ads and test a bunch of different possibilities to figure out what will help you garner and generate the most success within your business so you can generate the most sales.

This is what we recommend to our students…

Remember, advertising is a process. If you’re starting from scratch and don’t have any profits to reinvest into advertising, it can really start to make a dent in your wallet quickly and drain your savings and your money.

This is what we always recommend our students to do…

Start running ads as soon as you feel like:

  1. You’re landing clients consistently in your business.
  2. You see, what you’re doing is working.
  3. You’re able to generate profit from your business.

Now you can start plugging in some advertising to really scale your business and take it to the next level inshallah.
