In this article I will be discussing the three pillars of success for Muslim entrepreneurs, the three things that if you focus on will naturally result in success in your business and in your life as a Muslim and as an entrepreneur.
Pillar #1: The body
The first pillar of success for Muslim entrepreneurs is to take care of their bodies, our bodies are given to us as gifts by Allah ﷻ and we have to treat them as such, as you know, the modern new age philosophy says:
“My body is my temple”
Well, it really is your temple!
Because if you’re not feeling energized, if you’re not feeling healthy, if you’re not feeling like you want to get up and go and work on your business.
Then chances are you’re not going to be very successful, so how do we take care of our bodies to ensure that we feel great and energetic?
There are few things to keep in mind.
Eat healthy food
Number one is eating healthy food, you want to vary your food between proteins and carbs, fruits and veggies.
You want to make sure that you have whole meals and that you’re not overdosing on sugar, caffeine, or things that are not good for you.
If you’re eating lots of dessert, and fast food then you’re going to feel sluggish.
We’ve all done this before, you’ve eaten a giant meal of biryani and then you sit down and you want to take a nap & fall asleep, so it’s incredibly hard to work on your business if that’s how you feel after you eat.
That’s why it’s really important that you keep in mind how you are eating and try to maintain a proper diet that fuels you with energy that would allow you to put quality work into your business.
Optimize for good sleep
Another big tip is to watch how we sleep. sleeping is so important and if you don’t get a really good quality of sleep every night then you’re going to wake up feeling groggy & tired and you’re not going to have that clarity of mind that is required from you when it comes to succeeding in business and bringing those fresh ideas that are going to help you take things to the next level.
So make sure that you consistently get good quality sleep, don’t stay up late watching Netflix or hanging out with your friends. You want to sleep early every night and have a consistent bedtime and a consistent wake-up time, and you want to make sure you are watching how much you are sleeping, and the quality of that sleep and make sure you are optimizing for good sleep.
Exercise regularly
Another tip I have for you is exercising regularly, now you might think
“What does exercise have to do with being a successful entrepreneur?”
Well, it has everything to do with it!
Because when you have that proper healthy energy level that’s going all day, then you are ready to work on your business and you can get more done in an hour than most other people get done in an entire day.
God gave us Fajr prayer, he gave us the morning prayer, which is when you want to try to wake up, you want to wake up early, you want to get up and go, you want to get up with the birds, and you want to make sure that you’re tackling your day in a way that’s optimized and really allows you to have the energy level to bring out your best.
Pillar #2: The mind
Trait number two for every successful Muslim entrepreneur is taking care of the mind, the mind is so important and so many times I speak to Muslim entrepreneurs that completely ignore the importance of nurturing their minds.
Now, when I talk about nurturing your mind what do I mean?
I’m talking about increasing your knowledge and seeking beneficial knowledge that allows you to level up as an entrepreneur and to really grow your business efficiently and profitably.
As Muslim business owners, what we want to do is we want to try to impact hundreds, thousands, millions of lives in a positive way, we want to put out a great product or a great service, we want to change the world in a beautiful way and so the way we are able to do that is by having the necessary information & knowledge that allows us to take the steps necessary to grow our businesses and to reach millions of people.
That’s why it’s important to nurture your mind.
Here’s one way you can do that, you can try to read every single day and what I recommend doing is set yourself a 30-day challenge of reading 10 minutes a day.
- Pick up a book.
- Put it somewhere where you can easily see it.
- Read 10 minutes a day.
And just see what difference that’s gonna make in your ability to come up with new ideas and strategies to grow your business, improve your products, and increase your income.
Nurturing the mind is so important to help you get that beneficial knowledge, to get the information, the mentorship necessary to take things to the next level.
Here are some other activities other than reading books that you can do to nurture your mind:
- Watching documentaries.
- Taking courses.
- Taking programs.
There are lots of courses and online programs available that teach you how to start and grow a business, how to get good at marketing, how to film awesome videos, how to be great in front of a camera.
All of these things you can learn, so it’s important to see what it is that you need to do in your business, what’s the next step that you need to take, what should you become good at and then you want to go and seek that information, you want to get it so that you can really get to the next level in your business.
Pillar #3: The soul
The third and final pillar of a successful Muslim entrepreneur is to nurture the soul.
When it comes to our connection with Allah ﷻ, this connection if we nurture, grow it and pay attention to it, it can bring us LOTS of benefits in our lives, not just in our business but in our relationships, in our friendships, and in every area of our lives.
Why is it important for Entrepreneurs?
When you nurture that connection with Allah ﷻ, when you nurture that faith within you and when you pray those five times a day and when you speak to God and you make Duas asking God to let you reach that next level in your business and grant you the knowledge that you need to get to that next level, to reach your goals, to grant you the Rizq, the abundance, and the income you desire.
This instills hope and faith within you that you can achieve those things, that you can achieve those goals with the help of Allah ﷻ and if you don’t have that hope, and faith that God is on your side, that he’s going to help you achieve those goals and crush your dreams then you’re not going to be motivated to work towards these goals and dreams because we only work towards the things that we believe we can achieve.
A way to nurture that faith within you, that belief in yourself, is to nurture that belief in Allah ﷻ because everything connects together, everything is connected.
As Muslim entrepreneurs, we have this beautiful resource, that connection with the infinite that allows us to have that peace of mind to reduce our anxiety and stress levels and allow us to have faith that what we’re working towards is going to work out.
So it’s important to nurture that aspect of your being, to nurture the soul, the spirit, your connection with Allah ﷻ, try to read the Quran when you can, pray those five times a day, take that time out to meditate, to really take a break and really just relax a little bit.
As entrepreneurs, there are so many thoughts running through our minds all day, we’re always thinking about the next thing, and about what we should achieve and we’re ALWAYS running.
And so, prayer is a way to put everything on pause a little bit and take that time to meditate, to nurture that connection with Allah ﷻ, with the infinite creator and to then show up in our business powerfully, peacefully, and with that calmness of mind.
That allows us to really achieve not only great things that are going to impact people in a beautiful way but allows us to do so with happiness, gratitude, and a feeling of fulfillment and I believe that’s what’s ultimately the most important thing when it comes to working on our business.
Feeling fulfilled, happy, passionate about what it is that we’re doing.
These the three pillars of every successful Muslim entrepreneur that you want to pay attention to as a Muslim business owner to really help you live a beautiful life a happier life and reach your business goals and take your business to the next level.
To sum them up, the three pillars we discussed in this article are
- The Body: Nurturing our bodies through proper diet, regular exercise, and quality sleep.
- The Mind: Seeking beneficial knowledge and acquiring new skills that would help us succeed.
- The Soul: Nurturing our connection with Allah ﷻ and our faith in him.
If you do all of these three things then I guarantee you no matter what it is that you’re doing, what strategies you’re following, what business you have. You’re going to achieve so much more success when you focus on these areas and nurture and grow them positively.
