What Is The Standard Of Living You Accept For Yourself?

What is the standard of living you accept for yourself?

Each of us have a subconscious image in our minds of “the life we deserve to live”.

We might not ever realize this consciously or talk about it, but it’s there.

Whether this standard is “have a roof over my head and food on the table” or “have a nice car and a pretty home”, this standard is always there in some shape or form.

If we fall below this standard of living that we accept for ourselves, we will do everything it takes to transform our lives and take action until we get it.

However on the OTHER hand…

Once we reach this standard that we are okay with, things get wonky.

It becomes very hard to keep pushing.

To keep fighting the hard battles. To struggle and fail so we can succeed and go even higher.

Because our brain is thinking – “hey I’m comfortable here, why are you putting me through pain to get to somewhere else?”

We will be driven to stay in our comfort zone and won’t put in any real effort to reach our goals anymore.

So how do we solve this problem and make sure we never get complacent living an “okay” life when we could’ve been extraordinary?

My suggestion is to set clear goals and aim HIGH 🚀

I mean aim higher than you think is possible right now.

Aim so high that you have to transform and become a different person than who you are right now to reach your goal.

Write down a goal or objective that scares you, give yourself a deadline, and draft a real action plan to get there.

And set it as a standard that you simply refuse to not have.

To give some perspective, I started running recently – and I’m barely able to keep going for 5km before my body starts to give out.

I’m a complete beginner in the sport, and don’t have much experience.

Despite that, I have my eyes set on completing a marathon by next year.

A marathon is 42km…

In my current state, I would never be able to do it.

I can’t even imagine myself ever getting to a point where I could run 42 kilometers in a single day, and the thought of it scares me.

But I know if I keep training every single day and put one foot in front of the other, eventually it WILL be possible.

Don’t set goals that are possible right now. Set goals that force you to TRANSFORM and EVOLVE into a higher version of yourself.

If you are comfortable where you are and accept it for yourself as an “okay” standard of living, you will never change.

It’s only when you reach for the stars that you will be able to land on the moon 👊
