When building a halal & profitable online business, many people believe that you need to quit your job, work 12 hours a day on your business and dedicate all of your time to it.
This belief holds back many people from embarking on their dream of starting their online business. Most people think that once they decide to build an online business, they need to quit their job and their hobbies, and devote themselves to their business entirely.
While this might be true for a successful business that is established and generates revenue with multiple customers, most aspiring Muslim entrepreneurs are starting from scratch and don’t need a full-time schedule to start an online business.
The truth is, all you need to START a halal & profitable online business is 1 or 2 hours a day.
The question is – what should you do in those 1 or 2 hours?
Phase #1: Do Your Research
The first thing we recommend you do is to spend 1 or 2 hours a day mapping out your idea. Get very clear on the business you wish to build. What are you going to offer? Who are your customers? Which business model will you focus on? Do your research and get crystal clear on your idea.
Once you do that, then start analyzing other businesses within the same niche and who are competitors. Are they successful? How did they become successful? Study their methods & understand your market and potential customers.
The purpose of this phase is to find out if your idea is worth pursuing and validate your hypothesis.
Phase #2: Map Out Your Business Plan
Every great business needs to first begin as a business plan.
Here are some questions that you will need to ask yourself:
- What are you going to offer to your clients?
- Will you be providing a product or a service?
- Who is your ideal customer?
- How are you going to reach them?
- How are you going to market yourself?
Spend a portion of your day understanding all the different aspects of your business. Invest in yourself by educating yourself about entrepreneurship, business, marketing, or anything that would increase your chances to succeed!
Better yet, if you have the opportunity to get mentorship and guidance, this will help you save lots of wasted time and money on trial and error, and help you through the process of building your business successfully.
Phase #3: Take Action
Once you have mapped out your business plan and educated yourself on various aspects of the business, make sure you put this knowledge to good use.
This is clearly explained by this beautiful quote from Al Ghazali:
Knowledge without action is wastefulness, and action without knowledge is foolishness
Al Ghazali
Many people start to overthink the process once it’s time to launch their business. Don’t fall into the trap of staying forever in your market research phase, and focus on taking action!
Taking action doesn’t have to mean working 12 hours a day. When starting a business, you won’t even know how to fill that time if you had it! Instead, if you can commit 2 hours a day to working on your business , this is all you need to start successfully insha’Allah.
