The BEST Time To Start A Business | Advice For Muslim Entrepreneurs

In this article, I want to talk to you about a major question that I often receive from other Muslim entrepreneurs that are interested in starting their own business, and the question they ask me is:

“When is the right time to start a business?”

The reason they ask this question is that starting a business is not an easy decision, they might be wondering if they can start a business if they have a full-time job or have other commitments, or they just don’t know what to do or where to start.

If you are thinking of starting your business and having the same thoughts, then make sure you read through this article, and I will give you some perspective!

So, to answer this question I’m going to give you a realistic answer based on my personal experience.

I have started many businesses in the past, three to be exact, the first one got acquired the second one is still in operation to this day and the third one is also still in operation which is the Ummahpreneur that you are witnessing right now.

Now, what is it that you should keep in mind when it comes to starting and building a business?

Tip #1: Be committed & consistent

The first thing is that contrary to popular belief building a business takes a lot of work, commitment, and a lot of consistency. Lots of people like to say that business is a way for you to get rich quickly and that’s the idea that gurus and marketers are putting out there every single day to push people to buy their products, and their services.

But the truth is, building a business is a marathon and not a sprint it takes a lot of time it takes a lot of consistency and it takes a lot of small daily actions

Those small daily actions will snowball as you move forward in time and end up in massive growth and business success, so that’s one thing to keep in mind, building a business takes time so it’s all about consistency

Tip #2: Make sure you have the right mindset

The second tip is making sure you have the right mindset, before starting a business, a big part of building a business is your mindset.

Working on a business takes a lot of discipline and a lot of commitment. If you start working on your business today and you abandon everything tomorrow then you might as well not start at all.

Because it does take a long time, commitment, hard work, and consistency you need to have the right mindset and level of commitment and passion to want to pursue this and really put effort and time into it.

So how do you know if you have the right mindset?

Well, I have a very simple barometer that I tell people, if you’re thinking of starting a business and you have this great idea and you haven’t started working on it yet, what I recommend is to put yourself to the test, go and start working on your business immediately whether it’s for 30 minutes or an hour a day, just work on your business immediately and put time aside to go and really figure out what is the idea that you’re going to want to bring to life and take your time to think about every aspect of your business.

If someone goes and tries to do that and then they realize that they’d rather go and watch Netflix or play video games and they don’t feel like they have the energy to work on their business and this happens over and over again, chances are they don’t really want to build a business that badly.

That’s just the truth and that’s okay, entrepreneurship is awesome it’s one of the most rewarding paths in life but not every person needs to be an entrepreneur, some people are entrepreneurs other people are happy in their careers and what they’re doing and that’s okay too!

So don’t abandon your job because you want to go through the entrepreneurship path unless you are 100% sure that this is the path for you and that you can go through with it until you succeed.

The answer is very simple. The best time to start working on your business is actually yesterday. The second best time is right NOW. Do you wonder why is that?

Like I told you earlier, building a business takes a lot of time, when I was first starting my marketing agency, our first five months within the business all we were focusing on all that I was really making sure that I built out the brand, I was getting very clear on what the offer was going to be, how I’m going to provide my services, who are the clients that I’m going to work with, growing our social media channels connecting with potential clients on all kinds of steps to start really building the foundation that would later allow me to grow this business and generate a halal income online.

But in the beginning, I had to put in the time to build that foundation and for many and most businesses you are not going to get rich overnight, as I mentioned building a great business takes time and that’s normal and it’s part of the process.

So start working on the foundations as soon as possible right so that when you’re ready or hopefully inshallah you can get to a point where your business grows enough to a point where your business income now surpasses other sources of income and you can just work on that full time.

Tip #3: Maintain your current sources of income

Now, one thing that I do want to mention is that I strongly recommend when starting a business that you maintain your current sources of income so if you already have a job if you already, you know have a different source of revenue, that you’re getting from somewhere.

It’s important to maintain that and not completely cut it off to go and start a business for the first time, because you don’t yet know if the business is going to work out, or how long it’s going to take to become profitable.

So if you already have a current source of income if you’re already employed or you have a source of revenue from somewhere it’s important to continue maintaining that while building your business until it becomes profitable because it takes time to build your business, to go and land clients, or generate sales especially if you’re starting off there’s going to be a lot that you need to learn and it’s completely normal and it’s part f the process.

So my advice for you is to start working on your business as soon as possible, and as a way to encourage you  we actually filmed a free training and it will walk you through a very simple business model that I followed to make my first six-figures in Halal income online, it explains:

  • How I started it
  • The business model that I followed
  • What I did
  • What kind of offer or service that I had.
  • How I marketed myself

I walk you through step by step the entire process that I went through and I share with you a little bit about my story as well so I encourage you if you want more information and more clarity on what business you should start what is the business model that you should follow to check out this training!
